Since 2005, we started the cooperation with Siemens AG to developed a new MR-guided HIFU ablation system, which combines Siemens’ advanced techniques for magnetic resonance imaging and our leading technology in ultrasound medicine. The contract of this project signed on the 4th Sino-German High-Tech Dialogue Forum was the only one with know-how owned by China among all the 19 contracts signed on the meeting. In this project, patents related to HIFU will be issued to Haifu, and patents relating MRI to Siemens.
Normally, Chinese companies have to trade the domestic market share for the advanced techniques of foreign enterprises. In this cooperation, however, we have the "completely independent intellectual property right” and share the existing marketing network of Siemens to achieve mutual benefit. This achievement marks a milestone in China’s international technology cooperation.
